Privacy Policy

What we do not collect

The extension does not collect, store, or send to our servers any personally identifiable information: no IP address, no browser data, no browsing history, no username, and no device identifiers.

The only data requested – Location (optional)

If you choose to enable the distance-to-event feature, the extension will request access to your geographic location via the browser's Geolocation API. This location is used solely for a local, on-device calculation of the distance between you and the alert areas displayed on the map. Your location is never sent to our servers and is never stored outside your own browser.

You can revoke this permission at any time through your browser settings.

Preference data

Extension settings (selected cities, regions, event types, notification preferences) are stored in chrome.storage.sync — Chrome's encrypted sync storage, which is synchronized between your own devices only. We do not access or process this data in any way.

Requests to the alert server

The extension periodically makes read-only GET requests to black-alert.com to receive real-time alert data. These requests are entirely standard and contain no personal identifiers.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Any updates to this policy will be published on this page with a corresponding update date.
